Bluefin tuna is renowned for its exceptionally high omega-3 content—around 7.6%—significantly greater than that of other tuna species, which average about 2.8%. Its outstanding flavor and nutritional qualities were already appreciated by the Phoenicians, who, as early as 1100 BC, fished it off the island of Sant’Antioco and valued it as a prized food source.
